A core theme of the game is "hatred" the motif of hate consuming the world, and the hearts of the player character(s). The main plot is similar to Diablo II in that it is a "following in the footsteps of" story specifically, the game's player character(s) is/are pursuing Lilith across Sanctuary. Her grip on Sanctuary cuts deep into the hearts of men and women alike, cultivating the worst in its denizens and leaving the world a dark, hopeless place. In the power vacuum, a legendary name resurfaces- Lilith, daughter of Mephisto, the whispered progenitor of humanity.

Years have passed and, as some semblance of regular life starts rebuilding, a threat as old as the land itself begins to stir.ĭiablo IV takes place fifty years after the events of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, after millions have been slaughtered by the actions of the High Heavens and Burning Hells alike. We’ll just have to wait until November 2 to find out. After the destruction of the Black Soulstone, the defeat of the Prime Evil, and the fall of Malthael, Angel of Death, countless lives have been lost and the denizens of Sanctuary find themselves struggling through the darkest of ages. Obviously that won’t make us PC loyalists all that happy, but BlizzCon could be bring a tide of new information. But it looks like we’ll learn about Diablo III on the Nintendo Switch, instead. Back in August, Blizzard released a community update video, where Brandy Camel, associate community manager for Blizzard, spoke about the series’ future. We’ve been talking about the next Diablo this year. While the excellent Reaper of Souls left us feeling satiated for a few months, we’re all hungry for something more. But the team worked hard to create the game worthy of its legacy, and it did, despite the fact that it didn’t satisfy every need. Diablo III hit store shelves way back in 2012, where it met with some… issues (to put it lightly). Sadly, it’s highly doubtful we’ll get a sneak peak under the curtain at the long-awaited Diablo 4. BlizzCon 2018 officially starts on November 2.
